SKIP NOVAK

A racing and adventure legend. He participated in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race four times, beginning in 1977, and since then, he raced on open ocean countless times.

Novak embarked on a second career of high-latitude adventures in 1987, building the 54-foot expedition yacht Pelagic. He has spent every season since in Antarctic waters, where he combines his love of mountaineering and sailing by leading adventures on board the Pelagic, and the bigger Pelagic Australis a 74-foot sailing expedition vessel.

In 2018 one of Skip’s long time clients, Nicolas Scott commissioned a slightly larger, ketch rigged Pelagic boat, by the hand of Tony Castro. The boat is now under construction at KM Yacht builders, in the Netherlands.
